Saline Crew Competes in Ohio

On Saturday, April 18th, the Saline High School Boy’s and Girl’s Crew teams, Coached by Dave Fiske and Samantha Murphy, travelled to Westerville, Ohio to compete in the Hoover Invitational.  The teams competed against other high school teams and clubs from across the Midwest including St. Louis, Chicago, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh and West Virginia.  The teams competed in the following events:
Boys Varsity 4:  John Recknagel, Sean Connors, Sterling Hargrove, Keegan Jhanke, Coxswain: Peter Fullen.
Boys Light Weight 4:  Jack Norgren, Ben Summers, Parry Ragland, Nate Cook, Coxswain: Fraser Christie
Boys Junior 4: Neil Petit, Zach Dowling, Tim Carter, Jake Brady, Coxswain: Chris Bredernitz
Boys Junior 8:  Jack Norgren, Ben Summers, Neil Pettit, Zach Dowling, Evan Medvec, Tommy Michaluk, Parry Ragland, Mitchell Dellot, Coxswain: Noah Call-Boyce
Girls Varsity 4:  Erin Lankerd, Allison Cook, Meredith Phillips, Sarah Richter, Coxswain: Jen Bugoci
Girls Junior 4 A: Krista Kosek, Molly Visel, Maddie Campbell, Lindsey Krebs, Coxswain: Jen Bugoci
Girls Junior 4 B: Whitney Webb, Aileen Fullen, Megan Hogan, Heather Kinningham, Coxswain: Brenda Hanback
Girls Lightweight 4:  Meghan Hervey, Liz Call-Boyce, Lindsey Krebs, Irene Kitromelides, Coxswain: Brenda Hanback.

The Saline team has had very limited time to practice on the water this season (4 days), and was unable to advance to the finals against the tough competition provided by some of the best schools and clubs in the region.  The boats put in strong efforts down the 2000 meter course but it was not enough.  The team is looking forward to improving their boats in preparation for future events with the ultimate goal of qualifying boats for Nationals.

The team will be competing in Wyandotte, Michigan, on Saturday, April 25th in the Hebda Cup, sponsored by the Wyandotte Boat Club.  This will give the Saline Crew Team its first races against local teams, including Pioneer and Huron High Schools.
