The Saline Crew team stepped up its performance over the weekend by making it into the WyHi Regatta Mens Novice 8 finals.   This is the best showing yet this season for the team and promises great expectations for upcoming regattas.  Saline entered 8 events at the May 2nd regatta held at the Wyandotte Boat Club. A Saline team Novice 8 made the finals. The crew was
Evan Medvec , Tommy Michaluk, Nathan Pool, Michael Doa, Fraser Christie, C.J. Slotten, , Chris Bredernitz, Mitchell Dellot, coxed by Noah Call-Boyce  taking 2nd in their preliminary heat advancing to the Finals.  In Finals, the team finished 6th overall.
As the day wore on the winds caused 2 long delays.  When racing resumed the Men’s Lightweight 4 of Parry Ragland, Nate Cook, Ben Summers, Tim Carter, with coxswain Fraser Christie, also had a very competitive race, just missing qualifying for finals.
Racing in very rough water and without its strongest rower, out due to injury, the women’s varsity 4 with Erin Lankerd, Meredith Phillips, Molly Visel, Sarah Richter, took 5th in their heat.
The rough waters and another delay caused the women’s pair (Erin Lankerd and Meredith Phillips) and men’s pair (Sean Connors and John Recknagel) events to be cancelled.
The team continues to prepare this week to travel to Cincinnati Ohio for the Midwest Scholastic Championships on May 9th, and 10th.  Teams from Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia will be attempting to qualify for the opportunity to represent their schools in the Scholastic Nationals later this month.
